I am selling a custom designed and built pure Class A all tube amp fitted into a classic art deco solid wood radio cabinet enclosure made in the 1930s in perfect working condition. This very unique one of a kind combo features a clean uncorroded preamplifier amplifier chassis from an early 1960s open reel recorder reconfigured and engineered for instrument or microphone use. The tube compliment includes a 6AV6 high mu triode for the front end, 12AX7 dual triode for the voltage and driver stages and a single 6AR5 pentode configured in tetrode mode for the output. The amp is tube rectified with point to point wiring and all tubes are operated in classic pure class A single ended mode. The master volume and tone controls are relocated for easy access on the back panel as well as the American Switchcraft pro 1/4 inch jacks for the input and speaker outputs to allow use with any outboard speaker cab with 4 ohm or 8 ohm impedance. The securely mounted speakers used in this unit are similar in design to the very early Gretsch amps featuring a two way system comprised of an 8 inch treated surround full range driver and 4 inch midrange tweeter utilizing an elegant simple first order crossover network. The drivers are early 1950s Telefunkin Loewe Opta production both of which have alnico magnet structures and deliver amazing efficiency well above 100 db SPL. These are ideal for the limited power output of the SE amp with about the same power of an early Fender Champ or first generation Gibson GA. All quality active and passive components used in this are selected vintage production including the tubes which are new old stock from the 60s. Only some of the shielded cable for the controls is newer than 50+ years old. In operation this combo has a very low overall noise floor with extended wide band frequency response and the classic golden era tonal signature only attainable in this sort of design. With features such as the use of heavy solid wood cabinet construction and floating rubber mounts on the front end triode to prevent stage or cabinet microphonics, this very cool amp can provide sweet clean sonics to surprisingly high sound levels and then allow increasing even order harmonic crunch when overdriven. This makes it superb for anything from blues to any style rock in live or close miked recording venues. The wide range tone control and high gain input provides mild to wild ceramic or dynamic microphone use for the pro harp player. The 80+ year old cabinet is still very structurally strong with some expected blemishes to validate its long history. For the professional musician desiring something completely different, I am selling this combo for a fraction of the cost and labor involved for $185 CASH.
